Jeanne Standley, 88, of Mt. Zion, passed away at 2:15 p.m., Wednesday October 19, 2011 in her home.
 
A service to celebrate Jeanne’s life will be at 12:00 Noon Monday, October 24, 2011 at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt. Zion. Burial will be in the Mt. Zion Township Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time Monday morning. Memorials may be made to the Shriners Children Hospital or the American Cancer Society or the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at www.dawson-wikoff.com.
 
Jeanne was born November 1, 1922 in Decatur the daughter of Jennings Bryan and Beatrice Virginia (Burchard) Lichtenberger. She married Paul Dean Standley on March 8, 1948. She was an avid Bunco player.
 
Surviving is her husband: Dean of Mt. Zion, sons: Rod Standley and his wife Cathy of Decatur, and Kevin Standley and his wife Beth of Mt. Zion; daughter-in-law: Vicki Standley of Freeport, IL; grandchildren: Heather Hayward of Eugene, OR, Ryan Standley and his wife Stephany of Arlington, MA, Brandy Waller and her husband Mark of Portland, OR, Catie Standley of Decatur, Amy Myers and her husband Jared of Loudon, TN, Josh Birdwell of San Antonio, TX, and Amie Birdwell of Mt. Zion; great-grandchildren: Isabella Hayward, Lainey Standley, and Ryne Myers; brother: Warren “Pete” Lichtenberger and his wife Betty of Peoria; sisters: Sandy McConlee of Orange County, CA, Janet Duggan of Glen Carbon, IL, and Linda Brawner and her husband Dick of Norman, OK.
 
Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents, son: Bruce, five brothers and four sisters.
 
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of St. John’s Hospice Care; Comfort Keepers: Christina, Karla, Stephanie, Rose and Vickie, Dr. Mario Velasco and Dr. Dan Smith for all the care and compassion given to Jeanne during her illness.

Jeannie was the perfect sister to me while growing up, from sharing a "cup
of joe" at the dinner table to taking me along on her dates with Dean.
That was our Jeanne, kind, sweet and generous. Her giggle and loving
heart will be in mine forever and always.  I love you Jeannie.

So sorry to hear of the passing of Jeanne.  I will always remember her as a kind, spunky woman with a beautiful head of white hair.  May God give you comfort and strength today and in the days ahead.  My sympathies to you Dean and the rest of the family.
